Abstract

This article discusses the development of Islamic religious education curriculum and
character in the special education unit in high school. The aim is to find out how the
development of Islamic religious education curriculum and character in high school. The
theory discussed in this article is about the development of Islamic and religious
education curriculum Pekerti which includes: Objectives, functions, principles of steps,
development of character education, the application of character education in schools
and the implementation of strategies for character education in schools. The results of
the discussion in this article, that in developing Islamic religious education curriculum
and character there are three activities that can be developed, namely intraculicular
activities, curricular activities and extracurricular activities. Stages / steps in curriculum
development through four stages, namely: Formulating goals, selecting learning
experiences, organizing learning experiences and the final stage evaluating learning
experiences. Curriculum development is carried out in educational units especially high
schools, carried out by developing religious programs both short-term programs , the
medium term and long term, with the main goal of forming individuals who have strong
religious knowledge and virtuous character (Kahlakul karimah)
